The property was built as a replacement dwelling without a garage in a woodland setting near Studham. The owners wished to add a garage and study for both of them to work from home and to provide much needed storage space. The problem was that the internal connection to the study had to be through the living room. The owners also wanted storage for their large collection of books. The solution was to design bespoke bookshelving along the wall abutting the extension with a concealed bookcase door supported on castors which maintains the appearance of enclosure in the living room.
